Anyone who has ever been in Gurzuf, familiar with the legend of Adaları. And this is not surprising, as these rocks are in Gurzuf Bay, at a distance from the shore two hundred and fifty meters. Locals these rocks are called "twins". The word "adaları" is Turkish in origin, translated into Russian language as "Islands". In ancient times the rock was the site of a sea shore, but later the isthmus plunged into the water, and the shore they were separated.
Guides to the Crimea and the geography textbooks describe the rock as follows: these white cliffs are two of the same island, they reach a diameter of about thirty meters, forty meters, there are the distance between the rocks. But this description is dry, short and uninteresting. Many consider them only rocks that are home to seabirds, or unusual backgrounds curious tourists. Actually it's more than just rocks. It is a legend, created by nature, and then she herself is immortalized the story in stone.
Adalari dream for all divers. To be honest, researchers water depths are interested not only and not so much fish that swims at a depth near cliffs in huge quantities. A mystery that rocks rest on the seabed and the bottom is just a storehouse of interesting findings. First of all, the fragments of pottery belonging to the XII-XVI centuries. Once on this site were at anchor ships loaded with various goods. Then the rocks were still a Bank, not the Islands as it is now. Some divers are lucky, and today they find interesting evidence of the past. There were those among them who were lifted out of the water completely preserved amphorae.
In the beginning of the last century, a project which is planned to connect the cable cars rock Dzhenevez-Kai and twin-rocks. In the depths Dzhenevez-Kai opened for these purposes a special tunnel. But the plan was not carried out, the cable car remained only a draft.
There are different legends associated with these places. The most ancient in origin and essentially unreal tells of Peter and George, twin brothers. Another tells the story of the restaurant "Venice", and this is more the real story. Seemed to have such a restaurant existed on the rocks, but collapsed after the earthquake. For tourists visiting Gurzuf, these stories, of course, very interesting. After all, any stone, the path keep curious mysteries of the past.
