In 1453 by order of Archbishop Sigismund was built a Gothic castle. Later Maximilian I expanded it. But the most ambitious renovation of the building occurred by the decree of Empress Maria Theresa in 1755. Has been redone facade and Grand staircase, added the South wing in the Baroque style, and the entire Palace was given a more modern classic form.
The interior of the princely Palace in the Rococo style. Most noteworthy Giant hall decorated with white and gold motif, as well as a ceiling painting depicting the triumph of the Habsburg-Lorraine house, to which belonged a couple of emperors Maria Theresa and Francis I. On the walls of the hall hang portraits of a married couple and their 16 children.
