Place Kemeri (Kemmern) is a part of Jurmala, located 44 km from Riga. Long Kemeri resort was famous for its hot mud and sulphurous waters, which was called by the people "the sacred source". There was always a lot of people who came from different parts of the country, want to be healed from different diseases and ailments (chronic radiculitis, diseases of spine and joints). Many of them were moving with difficulty or not at all could walk.

For the first time to master these gifts of nature from a medical point of view were taken at the end of the eighteenth century. Nevertheless, as a hospital, Kemeri has been actively progressing in the first half of the nineteenth century. Among the sick people had a lot of Orthodox. Very important for them was the importance of spiritual support from the Church. So people began to ask, in the town of ķemeri built an Orthodox Church.

Only in 1873, thanks to the donations, was begun the construction of the Church. For it is the space on the second floor in a small room, which belonged to the management of the hospital. Consecrated the Church of the Holy apostles Peter and Paul, and attributed it to the assumption of the Castle Church in Riga.

The Church could accommodate only about 22 people. Accordingly, she could not take all comers. After 15 years, the Church does not meet the spirit of the time. The small room could not accommodate people who want to be at the service. Patients could hardly breathe in a stuffy room. The second floor was an insurmountable obstacle to people moving with difficulty, not to mention non-ambulant. As before, to enter the temple could only be from the yard and the steep, narrow stairs.

The uncomfortable and unworthy condition of the Church attracted the attention of Reverend Arseny, Bishop of Riga and Mitau, the first time visited the town of ķemeri. Without hesitation he began to seek the construction of a new Church. But for its creation had no land, no money, no materials.

This difficult work began in 1891. On the day of apostles Peter and Paul in the temple turned to the congregation about financial aid in the creation of a new Church. The fundraising began. Actively helped in this case the Director of Ķemeri water, Dr. A. G. kolebka-Koretsky. Funds were collected through the year. At the same time was allocated a plot of land received free of charge. Building material was also found.

July 9, 1892, Reverend Arseny, Bishop of Riga and Mitau, sanctified the place and bookmark Kamenskoe Church. The project was designed by the famous architect V. I. Lunskoye. A year later the construction was completed and the Church was consecrated. The temple was located in a beautiful scenic location among ancient oaks. On the contrary, in the so-called "state house" and was located the Office of the sulfur water.

External image of the temple had made a good impression. Very successful combination of architectural forms, art walls, the density of parts of the building together with the bell emphasized the stylistic unity of Peter and Paul's Church. The interior decor of the Church were distinguished by severity in combination with the high iconostasis artwork, carved Kyoto, utensils art casting. In the summer the service was done regularly.

10 July 1894 in the life of the Church something remarkable happened. In Kaminski the temple were sent to the Holy icons from the Greek Athos. The Lord raised three icons: Mother of God "quick to hearken", Iveria Holy virgin and of the Holy great Martyr and healer Panteleimon.

Since that time has passed more than a century. The Church all these years, remained active. In the postwar period was especially a lot of praying, when Kemeri became a health resort for all the republics of the USSR. The resort with its exceptional healing properties and natural conditions actively progressed, flourished and became widely known recognition.

Currently the temple is in good condition and is an Orthodox spiritual centre of Kemer and its surroundings.
