One of the historic landmarks of Kaliningrad is the Church of Queen Luisa, located in the Central Park of culture and recreation (formerly Luizenvahl). The building of the Lutheran Church in our day functions as a puppet Theater.
One of the most beautiful and famous women in the history of Prussia was Queen Louise (grandmother of the Russian Emperor Alexander II), who during the life of the object of worship and a symbol of the growth of the country. In memory of "spiritual mentor" the citizens of Koenigsberg the Church was erected, designed by Friedrich Heitmann (who later became court architect). In 1901, at the dedication of the Lutheran Church attended by another grandson of Queen Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany. After standing for several decades, the Church was destroyed during the war (1945) and has long been in ruins. In the 1960s, the historic building was scheduled for demolition, but thanks to the architect Yuri Vaganova that prepared the draft refurbishments of the Church in the puppet theatre, the building has managed to preserve and restore.
Stylistically, the building was constructed, combining several features: Renaissance, art Nouveau, romanticism, and referred to a certain style elements can only. Nowadays, the facade of the building is identical to the original appearance of the Church of Queen Luisa, but the interior is completely changed. Interior spaces were divided into two floors are used as exhibition hall (1st floor) and a hall for performances of theatre (2nd floor).
