Gun court is located in the northwestern part of the Kazan Kremlin. It is also called Arsenal or Artillery. The Gun court complex adjacent to the Western Kremlin wall. Originally the complex was built in the form of a U-shaped building, attached directly to the wall. Now the complex consists of four separate buildings. Each of them has been restored, but at different times.

In the Kremlin complex Gun court appeared in the late 17th century. It was built on the site of the Khan's guard. There was a fortress and Arsenal. One - and two-storey buildings formed a courtyard, which was called the Foundry. In the 17th and 18th centuries in the Casting yard was produced, kept and repaired heavy weapons. The main building of the complex was built along the Great street of the Kremlin. The other two buildings were located to the North of main and South. Together they formed a courtyard. In the centre of the main building was a passage to the territory of the yard through a travel tower. From this period remains the building of the South block. Inside it you can see the archaeological excavations of the remnants of the old production facilities.

In the late 18th - early 19th centuries the southern building was rebuilt along with the Great outdoors. The building has retained the original built form with a gate in a two-story Central building. Preserved and symmetrical one-story wings and a two-storey towers at the corners of the building.

In the early 19th century former Gun factory was one of the best in Russia. Its reconstruction was conducted by the renowned specialist engineer Betancourt (author of the project of an Arena). In 1812 he built a new West building. In it was placed the forge. In 1815 the fire raged, which affected many of the buildings in the Kremlin, including the Armoury yard. Arms production has ceased. This period in the history of the Gun court is the Western case.

In 1825 restore the building to open a military school. Led restoration work architect Schmidt. Reconstruction was completed in 1837. In 1866, the year of the school building transferred opening in Kazan Junker infantry school.

In the 20th century Cannon yard was no longer used for its intended purpose, in the main building was organized a canteen for soldiers.
