The temple in honor of the Holy great Martyr Paraskeva is located in the heart of Kazan, near the Kremlin. In 1566 at the beginning of the street B. Red was built a wooden Church of St. Nicholas of Zaraysk with the chapel of Paraskeva Pyatnitsa. The wooden Church burned down in the fire 1579. In the form in which the Church exists now, it was founded in 1726. Completed the construction was in 1728. At the same time the Church was consecrated. The temple was built in the Russian Baroque style. The form of the temple is a traditional octagon quadrangle. The height of the temple is 22 meters. In the people the Church was called the Pyatnitsky in honor of the temple, the miraculous image of St. Paraskeva. During the celebration of the memory of Paraskevi of 10 November in the temple pilgrims came. In the chapel of the Epiphany was kept ancient cross with Holy relics. In 1923 the Church was made in the likeness of the Museum. It took relics from destroyed and closed churches and monasteries. In 1937 the Church was turned into a prison. It shot those who were sentenced to death. Shot, buried right inside the temple and beside him. In the 1950s the Church was abandoned, the bell tower collapsed. A new story began in 1993 when the Church was handed over to the Ministry of culture. Restoration work began. The Ministry plans was the creation of the Museum of icons. In 1996 the Church was given to the Kazan diocese.

When carrying out restoration work revealed that the entire area of the temple was a cemetery. Human remains were carefully collected and buried. At the mass grave in the courtyard of the temple set up a marble cross. In 2004 this place was built the tomb in which lie the remains of the slain. The four-tiered iconostasis, with the blessing of Archbishop of Kazan, in honour of the martyrs turned red. Destroyed the bell tower was restored in 2000.

Since 2004 works at the Church Sunday school. In 2010 was opened the parish library.
