The monument to the Heroes of Eltigen "Parus" is located in a quiet and cozy resort village of Heroica (formerly Eltigen), located at the extreme southern point of the Kerch Bay.

The monument was opened on 8 may 1985, the author of the concept of the monument was made by sculptor and architect L. V. Toshiba. The Central part of the monument is of plastic composition "Sail". Monument to a height of 20 meters and a weight of 2 thousand tons of concrete on Portland cement.

A small village Eltigen became known throughout the Soviet Union in November 1943. thanks to the heroism of Soviet soldiers, which marked the beginning of the liberation of the Crimea. During the Kerch-Feodosiya operation on the night of 1 November 1943. the Crimean village of Eltigen, landed Marines, who took over at the small base, went down in history of the great Patriotic war under the name of "Tierra del Fuego". It was the "fire land": a small landing area was exposed to fire through. But despite this, elligence, buried in the ground, kept for almost forty days, beating off several attacks per day. The warriors pulled himself almost all the enemy forces, thereby facilitating the landing of the main forces of the landing. They were supported by the men in boats, who often struggled with the Taman shore through a wall of artillery fire, heavy artillery, located on the other side of the Strait, and from female pilots of the 46th regiment of night bombers.

By order of the commanders, on the night of December 7, 1943, all who could move, more than 1, 5 thousand courageous paratroopers went on break. Defeating the enemy ring, the fighters reached Kerch and, causing an unexpected blow from behind by the German invaders, came to Mithridates and adjacent streets. Another four days battles were fought behind enemy lines.

Today, the monument to the heroes of the Eltigen is in the custody of the Kerch city Council and requires a major overhaul.
