Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ was built in 1900 with funds donated by the Foundation named after Emperor Alexander III. The consecration of the Cathedral took place in may 1901
In addition to its main destination, the Cathedral was used as a school, which was headed by the wife of the first Abbot of the temple, the priest A. Mikhailovsky. The temple was attributed to several military units. Some time after the consecration near the Cathedral was built the parish house. With time in the temple restoration works were carried out, during which expanded the refectory of the temple, built and commemorative chapel, named in honor of St. innocent of Irkutsk.

In the late 1930s, the city authorities decided to transfer the building of the temple in the possession of the far Eastern railway for kindergarten.
