Khabarovsk arboretum is one of the natural attractions of Khabarovsk. The Park is located almost in the center of the metropolis, Volochaevskaya street. The arboretum was founded in October 1896, then its total area was four hectares. On this stretch of the earth were laid field and nursery forestry. Then the arboretum was a thick forest of elm, oak and other trees. In addition, there were planted the first planting of forest plants such as the Ussuri pear and pine grave.

For all time of existence of the Khabarovsk arboretum repeatedly changed their leaders, experiencing the periods of decline and UPS. In 1939, the Park was given the status of forestry in the system of the far Eastern research Institute. Since 50-ies of the last century were organized on the issue of introducing some plants, unfit for this climate. It was then and has developed a major collection of trees.

After some time the arboretum was awarded the title of the natural monument of regional significance and today is the research, collection and cultural center of not only the city but all of the Khabarovsk Krai. In addition, located almost in the centre of Khabarovsk forest band performs and ecological function.

The collection of trees in the arboretum is a unique gene pool of dendroflora. Currently there are about 386 species of plants, which are 102 families genera and 193. There is among them and a few exotic to the edge of the plants. After passing through the alleys of the arboretum, visitors can see the Chinese Magnolia vine, wild Amur grape and many other vines, tableaudih slender trunks of fir trees and birches. Also in the Park is native Mongolian oak, Amur velvet, and Manchurian walnut.

Plants for Khabarovsk arboretum gathered from all corners of the earth. In the arboretum there are specimens from North America, the foothills of the Tien Shan and the Himalayas.
