Expocenter of Ukraine is an international multi-functional facility designed to demonstrate the industrial, scientific, cultural and other achievements. Fairgrounds began its work in 1958 as VDNKH of the USSR and until today had several times to change its name. It was the Center of exhibitions and fairs of Ukraine and the national exhibition center of Ukraine, and now – national complex Expocenter of Ukraine.

The idea of construction of the exhibition center was suggested in the late 40-ies of XX century, but construction only began in 1952 and lasted for 6 years. The design Expo was carried out by members of the Institute “Dniprograd”, for the design of the pavilion was carried out by the best sculptors and artists of the country.

Originally in the Expo center has hosted the pavilions as “Energy and electrification”, “Coal, oil, gas & metals”, “machinery and apparatus”, “Construction and building materials industry”, “Agriculture”, “Plastics and polymer materials”, “Animal”, “industrial crops, vegetable growing, horticulture and viticulture” and others. It was later built several pavilions dedicated to the education, the wealth of the sea, the goods, the electrification of the national economy, billboards, coal industry, etc.

During the existence of the Expo it was time to visit well-known figures – Charles de Gaulle, Ho Chi Minh, Tito, Margaret Thatcher and others.

In addition to organizing exhibitions, the Expo center has organized and continues to organize exhibitions on significant dates in the life of the people and country. Many of them have been showcased outside of Ukraine in Moscow, Brno, Hannover, Leipzig, Montreal, etc.
