Vvedensky monastery, among other monasteries of Kiev, is not only a unique monument of architecture, but also the cradle of Russian Orthodoxy.

Many of the monasteries then were built on the donations of lay people, mainly rich widows who decided to leave the worldly life. Vvedensky monastery is no exception, its founder was Egorova Matron Aleksandrovna, who has filed a petition Filofey, Metropolitan of Kiev, to establish a women's community presentation to shelter orphans and widows, eager to devote his life to the service of God. For the construction Egorova donated all his property and capital. Her request granted, and the new community was established by official decree. The settlers of the monastery were occupied by the military hospital, raised front gifts, washed clothes. In 1966 there was the re-closure of the monastery and its territory is located the district hospital.

In 1992 Vvedensky monastery rebuilt, the community started again their work, led by father Damien. Again in the temple were resumed and began restoration work. According to the few surviving fragments recreated was the original painting of the 19th century, made instead of lost songs.

Vvedensky monastery store some important Orthodox shrines. Many pilgrims from all over the world come to the temple to worship the relics of the mother of Dimitra and the miraculous icon of the Mother of God.
