Literary and musical Museum "Dacha Chaliapin is located in the centre of Kislovodsk, at the intersection of Semashko and Chaliapin, near the train station. The Museum was founded in 1883, and today it occupies the premises of a resort mansion built in 1903.
The building is built in art Nouveau style, the author of the project was famous at the time in Kislovodsk architect Khodjaev Emmanuel Bagdasarovich. The first owner of the building was Pelageya S. Ushakov, wife of an influential merchant, who leased a reasonably priced room to rent. In 1914 the mansion with all household premises came into the possession of the Cossack General G. N. Abrasivo. In 1917, the country was visited by Fedor Shalyapin with his family. After that, the building has been called a "Dacha Chaliapin", which came to our days. In 1917, the mansion was nationalized, after which it operated a hostel, housed various services, including sanatorium named after Semashko.
Currently, the mansion is a Literary and musical Museum "Dacha Chaliapin", which is one of the most important cultural centers of the city. The Museum hosts a literary-musical evenings, concerts of classical music. No less interesting and the exhibits of the Museum. Here is the collection of rare books, photos old Kislovodsk, materials associated with the name of Feodor Chaliapin, the recording of his voice. Every year the Museum holds famous all over the country "Shalyapin seasons, performing on stage which consider it an honor of the best singers of the world.
