The Philharmonic and the Museum of musical and theatrical culture in the city of Kislovodsk was founded in 1965 on the initiative of Boris Matveyevich Rosenfeld, who later became Director of the Museum.
Today, the Museum collected more than ten thousand different items. The Museum is divided into four main rooms, each of which presents a unique exhibition.
The first room is dedicated to famous musicians and composers, ballet, Opera and stage, which gave concerts and vacationing in this region. Among the famous names worth mentioning A. A. Alyabyev, M. I. Glinka, Balakirev, S. Rachmaninov, S. Prokofiev. Here is the famous white piano "Blüthner" who regularly works for more than 100 years.
The second hall is dedicated to the eminent conductor, pianist and public figure - Vasily Ilyich Safonov. Documents, photographs, materials related to the activities Safonova, and much more is stored in the Museum. It is noteworthy that Safonov was the initiator of the Kursaal (now state Philharmonic), as well as the opening of the first music school for children in the North Caucasus.
In the third room presents the materials, or otherwise associated with the academic Symphony orchestra, which was founded more than a century ago and again not without the participation of V. I. Safonov. The fourth room is dedicated to famous bass Russia - Fyodor Ivanovich Chaliapin, who repeatedly gave concerts in the Kurhaus.
