Klagenfurter Cathedral Catholic Church of saints Peter and Paul, located in the Austrian city of Klagenfurt. The Church, which originally bore a different name – the Church of the Holy Trinity, was built in 1578 and immediately became a meeting place for Protestants. However, during the counter-Reformation 1600, the population of Klagenfurt returned to the bosom of the Catholic Church. Four years later the Church was re-consecrated in honor of the apostles Peter and Paul and entrusted to the Jesuits. After that its architecture has been some changes in the interior of the Church appeared moldings, chapels were built in the Northern and southern parts, there is a new altar. In 1665 the chapel was built Francis Xavier, came to the tomb of the family of Orsini-Rosenberg in the southern part of the Church.

In 1787 the Department of the diocese of Gurk moved to Klagenfurt, making the Church of Peter and Paul Cathedral and throughout the diocese.

Being Protestant Church existed side by side with the hospital. During the Second world war, the hospital suffered a lot, and in 1964 was completely destroyed and became visible badly damaged the facade of the Cathedral. The city authorities have announced a competition, which was won by architect Ewald Kaplaner in 1973, and completed the work on the arrangement of the facade.

In the interior of the temple is of special interest the main altar, painted by Daniel Gran in 1752. In the sacristy of the Cathedral there is the last work of Johann Martin Schmidt. Painting arches held Josef Fromlen, and the author of the stucco gallery Kilian is Pittner. In numerous stucco decorations of the temple are perfectly combined elements of various architectural styles.
