Biogradska Gora is a unique natural reserve of Montenegro, which is still called Princely reserve. This is due to the fact that in 1878 Prince Nikola Petrovic appreciate the uniqueness and beauty of this place, with orders to guard him. The territory was given to him after Kolasin was liberated from the Turks. In 1952 Biogradska Gora received the status of a national Park scale.

Is a nature reserve in the North-East from the centre of kolašin, between the deep rivers Tara and lim, in the heart of the massif. Its total area is 54 square meters, including 1600 hectares of pristine forest, six glacial lakes, as well as the tops and slopes of mountains. The highest point is the famous mountain Crna-Head, she is at a level of 2139 meters.

Primeval forest grows at various altitudes above sea level (850-1800 m). To date, scientists have identified 86 species growing in the reserve trees. Some species reach the age of more than a thousand years, and a width in girth – up to five meters. Among deciduous species in the Park occur beeches, maples, lindens. Conifers are represented by juniper, silver fir and mountain pine. It can also occur as elms and yews.

The flora and fauna of Biogradska mountain impresses with its diversity: more than 2,000 species of animals and over 200 species of birds. Among others, the reserve is inhabited by various insects, amphibians, reptiles and fish.

Among the wide meadows of the reserve scattered rollers – pastures with a small shepherd's huts and shelters specifically for cattle. In addition, there are other traditional buildings, such as water mills, wood cabins, and special mountain hut called "cowardace".

As for the reservoirs, the largest in the Park is biogradsko lake, located at an altitude of 1094 meters above sea level. In-depth this glacial lake is 12, 1 meter.

In the Tara river and the Biogradska lake is home to a huge number of different species of fish, among which are: minnow, brown trout, Arctic char, Danube salmon and grayling European.

Another lake that is the largest followed Biograd is a lake Peziza. In addition, it is worth to see and other lakes reserve: Small and Large Ursulovacka, Small and Large Sickie.
