Photo: Florian's gate
Florian gate, first mentioned in 1307, dedicated to St. Florian, patron of Krakow. Entrance gates are located in a square plan tower of boulders, built in the early fourteenth century and topped with a whimsical shape topping of the XVI century. Inside the arched portal of the tower is a chapel with the image of the virgin Mary. On the Northern facade is the heraldic eagle, modeled on a drawing by Jan Matejko; on the South - Baroque relief depicting St. Florian, who was also worshiped as the protector against fire.
