At Jagiellonian street is one of the oldest University buildings in the world, changed his destiny from the middle Ages. This is Collegium Maius, built in the 1400s, and for centuries served as the main residence of the University, and now became a Museum of its history, the state rooms which are used on special occasions.

The University of Cracow was founded in 1364 by the decree of Casimir the Great. This building appeared after the purchase of Vladislav Jagello several houses and combining them in a University residence. After the renovation, the building acquired its characteristic appearance: red wall Gothic brick back massive Scarpa; steep roof slopes, cut by the chimney with finials-Dymnikov, closed Gables high gear.
