Immediately after the Second world war in the town of kroměříž, at the direction of Archbishop Andrew, it was decided to build a new Orthodox Church. Its construction lasted several years – from 1946 to 1948. Small elegant Church was consecrated by the names of saints Cyril and Methodius, considered to be great educators and disseminators of the Christian religion in the Slavic lands.
The Church in the Byzantine style decorated with a low tower with a dome-onion. The facade is decorated in white and yellow tones, which give the whole appearance of the Church of grandeur and solemnity. The entrance leads to the wide staircase.
Erected the Church was to remind of the victims of the war, the Christians and executed by the Nazis, the Czech and Moravian Bishop to the Global. This man was executed in 1942, as he helped the group of patriots, to encroach on the life of Heydrich. After the death of the brave partisans Bishop Gorazd took the blame for their harboring for the salvation of his flock. His feat was not forgotten, in honor of the fearless Bishop, recognized as a Martyr and a Saint, built the Church, conducted the service, remember about it.
The Church is easy to find: it is located in the heart of the city on the Slavic area. The temple doors are wide open for all guests. Inside you can see the traditional Orthodox churches interior. However, the Church is different from others in that there are stored the relics of St. Andrew the Apostle, St. John Czech, St. Ludmila, St. Maxim the Greek and some other saints.
