Church of Saints Olga and Elizabeth is the first attraction, which along with the railway station greets guests of the city immediately upon arrival in the city. The construction of the Latin parish Church, dedicated to the faithful of the Western suburbs, took place in the early 20th century. The Church was consecrated in honor of the Empress Elizabeth, a revered and renowned tragically deceased wife of Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I.
Project G. Talevski required construction of a temple in neo-Gothic style. The exterior has a similarity with the architecture of the North American and French Gothic with romantic style components: high peaked spires, the portal in the center of which a large rose, Lancet Windows, vertical solution of the internal space. Two symmetrical towers and one of the highest amount to the facade of the temple; their high spires crowned with crosses. The tower can be seen from a considerable distance. The height of the temple – the highest in the city (85 m).
The entrance to the temple is decorated with a sculptural composition "the Crucifixion with Preseason" famous master P. Voitovich. In 20-ies in the temple was an organ of the famous Polish company Bernacki Wenceslas and Dominica. Significant damage to the Church of St. Olga and Elizabeth is not received during the two world wars. Existed the temple until 1946 In the Soviet era, it housed the warehouse. Restoration work began only in the early 90-ies of the last century. In 1991, the Church was transferred into the possession of the Greek-Catholic community and highlighted how the Church of STS. Olga and Elizabeth.
Today the Church is currently active, it can be attended by everyone. You can come to the solemn service or just stand in silence near the altar and pray, felt the special feeling of unity with God that reigns here.
