The Church of St. Clement, Pope of Rome, and the building that currently occupies the "Ukrtelecom" formerly belonged to the convent of barefoot Carmelite. It was built in 1893-1895 by an Austrian architect F. Statca. The management of the construction was entrusted to the Ukrainian architect I. Levinskaya, improved the draft. The paper also participated Yuri Zakharevich - organizer of the school of architecture of Lviv. The complex was fully completed and delivered in 1898.
With the advent of Soviet power, the nuns were forced to leave the monastery, and the monastery was occupied by the NKVD. The new government has shared the main temple on floors and rooms. When the city entered the fascists, there was arranged a plot of the Gestapo, in territory of the former monastery yard were shot captured. After the war until 1952, the former monastery was given to the guard regiment of the NKVD. Subsequently the cells and the temple were transferred to the PBX of the city, and after the collapse of the Soviet Union it was inherited to the company "Ukrtelecom".
Only sixteen years of the space was returned to the monastery of the barefoot Carmelite. During repair work in one of the niches was found stuffed figure of the crucified Christ with no hands. Now it is installed in the sanctuary and is a symbol of national suffering and long ordeal of the temple, which was consecrated in honor of St. Clement, Pope of Rome, in honor of Kievan Rus Christians of both Eastern and Western rites.
Today the temple is valid. This can come to pray, all who are weary and seeking God.
