Of Azenhas do Mar is a city located on the coast. Of Azenhas do Mar is located in the municipality of Sintra, which in turn is included in the Lisbon region. The city's name translates as "sea mill." According to some sources, the history of this ancient city began in the period of Arab occupation. Then came the first water mills, known as "Azenhas", hence the name of the city.

The city is situated on a cliff, below the dunes, the ocean and the city seems as if merged into rock and some house as if balancing on the edge of the abyss. In the 30 years after the opening of the tram line, of Azenhas do Mar is becoming a famous tourist destination in the Lisbon region due to its vast beaches, and natural pools in the rock.

There is a legend that on the day of the opening of the tram, instead of water in one of the fountains of the city flowed the famous Portuguese red wine, Solaris.
