Castle Harrah is a jewel of Austrian architecture, is located a few kilometers East of Vienna. The castle is famous for valuable art gallery, which is one of the most luxurious frequent collections.
In 1524, the castle became the property of the family Jarrah, which turned it into one of the most beautiful castles in Austria. Family Harrah was one of the prominent families of the Habsburg monarchy, which included the diplomats, princes. All family members were connoisseurs of painting, so each generation kind of had a hand in creating beautiful collections. Hundreds of paintings came to the castle from Spain, Italy and the Netherlands. Now they are in the castle, a stately family home, with gorgeous furniture and treasures arts and crafts, which constitute one of the world's most important private collections collected over the last 450 years. In the postwar years, the castle was partially looted, but was later restored.
In the gallery of the castle you can see more than 200 paintings representing artists from around the world, including such works as: "Holy night," "Three ladies playing music", "View of Naples". Also, noteworthy are the large murals depicting famous Austrian battle. In one of the halls you can see a bust of Haydn by Antonio Grassi. This bust is in the hall of Haydn, which is named after the famous musician and composer Joseph Haydn, who was born in the same village where the castle is located hurrah.
By the way, the Museum of Joseph Haydn is only a few steps from the castle. Simple country house where the composer was born March 31, 1732, and later his brother Michael Haydn (14 September 1737) was opened to the public since 1959. The Museum features many interesting exhibits detailing the youth of the composer.
