Mogilev Museum of Ethnography – a branch of the Mogilev regional Museum, opened in 1981. A branch is created for the purpose of studying Belarusian folk life, customs, traditions, costumes and rituals. In 1999, the Museum moved from the small wooden home in the spacious rooms of the former Museum of the Decembrists.

Of particular importance in the Museum give folk traditions and rituals, as well as clothing and ritual objects associated with rituals. In the Museum of Ethnography was assembled the largest collection of traditional Belarusian costumes from different districts and villages.

Great attention is paid to Belarusian folk crafts, traditional peasant villages and cities of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

The Museum houses a large scientific work allow through peasant rituals of the agricultural cycle to explore distant pagan roots of modern Belarusians. The Museum contains a large collection of Belarusian wedding traditions and ceremonial clothes, which is characteristic for a traditional wedding ceremony.

The main exposition of the Museum shows the life of a Belarusian family, the interior of the hut, clothing, tools, household items.

In addition to the main exhibition, the Museum organizes thematic exhibitions of Handicrafts. Mogilev Museum of Ethnography takes part in the European Night of Museums", representing his ethnic festival programme clear and interesting as the indigenous inhabitants of Mogilev and tourists of any age and gender.
