If you are tired to explore the natural and architectural attractions, and the locks seem to like each other and are no longer surprised, Moravian-Silesian region has to offer visits to military fortifications, created not so long ago – even before the second world war. One such fortification systems is it is Marcovicci and represents a length along the state border, which, in the opinion of the Czechoslovak government of the time, it was necessary to guard with special care. Fort near Moravian Ostrava was the first building of this kind in the First Republic. During construction, the engineers created a plan of such buildings, which can now be seen in many places in the Moravian-Silesian region.
Strengthening it in Marcovicci consists of a system of trenches and several infantry Bunkers - MO-S18, S19, S20. Also here you can see a light DOT model 37A. These structures have survived from 1935-1938, in relatively good condition. To ensure them proper care as well as protect them from the destruction that can provide the people, it was decided to transform the site of the former defence system in the Museum. In our days in the area it is Marcovicci is run by Silesian municipal Museum, so there are qualified guides who are very interesting talk about the history and the difficult period when there were these fortifications, and for the security of Forte. This war memorial is also interesting the fact that anyone can try on the role of defender of the borders, armed with a gun, of course, a hoax, and try to hit the target. Children, especially boys, from a visit to this Fort will be delighted!
