In the historical centre of Nizhny Novgorod - Sopocani, or how it used to be called - Ilyinskaya Sloboda are ancient white stone house, built in the seventeenth century. Rare for Nizhny Novgorod chamber with exquisite decor and tiles belonged to the merchant and industrialist Athanasius Pyrzowice Alisova.

Famous chamber, preserved in our days, the flavor of an ancient city, built with the assumption Cathedral (at the expense Olisova) in 1670-ies. Two original buildings still represent a fragment of Nizhny Novgorod tenements built in the seventeenth century. A. F. Devices was known for being a merchant, rose to high government level and through its work was on par with the eminent nobility. Ambitious Athanasius Firkovich in 1668 was listed as one of the largest suppliers of bread in Moscow, and in 1677 was appointed Palace Manager of the salt and fisheries in Yaik and Astrakhan and after you pay him the king of "soft letters" Devices had the right to foreign trade.

A two-storey stone house, in the tradition of ancient houses, consist of a ceremonial and living rooms on the second floor and outbuildings in the lower part of the house. Until our days are partially preserved decoration of houses - the stone patterns of the arches and architraves, relief tiles. In 1967 the ancient building was restored under the direction of honored Russian architect and historian of architecture - Svyatoslav L. Agafonova. In 1984 the house is a regional center of folk arts and crafts, and today the historic building is owned by the Nizhny Novgorod diocese where you plan to place the center of Orthodox youth education.

Chamber of the Nizhny Novgorod merchant Olisova are the object of cultural heritage of Federal importance), a monument of history and architecture, as well as the beautiful historic site of Nizhny Novgorod.
