The monument to the Sailor with a grenade", located in Novorossiysk on Lenin Avenue, one of the city's attractions. The place for installation of the monument was chosen not incidentally, it was here in March, 1943 and passed the first line of defense. Inauguration of the monument "the Sailor with the grenade" was held on 16 September 1972 and marked the 29th anniversary of the liberation of Novorossiysk from Nazi troops.
Officially the memorial is another name for "Sailor-the paratrooper". Height made of white stone of the monument is three meters and a width of four meters. The monument is a tall pedestal, which depicts a sailor, much clutching in his hands a grenade.
The authors of the monument "the Sailor with grenades" are sculptors Nikolay Ivanovich Nikitin, Nikolai K. Borisenko. They were both fellow Novorossiysk and fought at the front, so there is no doubt that this monument was made very carefully.
On the reverse side of the stone, which made the monument "a Sailor with a grenade, you can see a map that displays all lines of defense, and the list of units, who fought bravely and defended the city of Novorossiysk from Nazi troops.
