On the Wenceslas square in Olomouc next to Sicovam Palace, Church of St. Wenceslas and the Diocesan Museum is located the chapel of St. Anne, which has a round shape. This is a single-nave Gothic building is so close to the wall of the Church of St. Wenceslas, which many tourists take him for part of the above temple. However, the chapel was built by the craftsmen who built the Church of St. Wenceslas, but it is considered as an independent structure. Its construction was completed in 1268. At the time it was consecrated by the name of St. John the Baptist. The city has another chapel of the same name, which was built much later. So they do not confuse the first chapel perinatal. Now its patron Saint is Saint Anne.
In the written sources on local Church is mentioned for the first time in 1349 as the place where he kept the Church relics.
In 1617 the interior of the chapel has been completely updated. Now the decor of the chapel was made in the style of mannerism – a very fashionable trend at that time. Unfortunately, the integrity of the chapel was broken during the repair of the neighbouring Church in the late nineteenth century. Chapel has lost about a third of its original area. But beautiful carved portal, where you can see the coat of arms of the family of Dietrichstein, was saved.
In the second half of the XVII century, the Church of St. Anne has taken on considerable weight, as becomes a temple where there was a local election of bishops and archbishops. Its up to 1916 called the rector of the Church.
