The Storting, or Norwegian Parliament, was established on may 17, 1814, the day of adoption of the Constitution, which is the main national holiday of Norway.

The building, which houses the Parliament, is located opposite the Royal Palace and has a round shape with wings on the sides. It was built in neo-Romanesque style in 1866 by Swedish architect E. Langlet. Interesting is the fact that his project was not considered during the official competition, even the winners were chosen. However, the drawings of Langlet so hit the spot to the Commission that in the end he was awarded the victory. Construction took 5 years and was completed in 1866.
