Dazzling white terraces (travertine education) emerged on the hillside as a result of salt deposits from saturated calcium sources. Hot springs with a high content of iron and sulfur formed the red rocks Karahayit. Earlier on salt terraces were allowed to walk barefoot, but because of the large number of tourists annually visiting Pamukkale, is prohibited.
