The yupsharsky canyon is certainly one of the most beautiful natural landscapes of mountain Abkhazia. Located on the road to not less unique and famous Ritsa lake, it holds incredible proportions, striking grandeur of the scenery.
From Bzyb village on the way to Ritsa lake through 18 miles of constant twists and turns you find yourself in the gorge with almost half a kilometer of vertical walls and a width of no more than 20 meters from wall to wall. Two cars can hardly travel in the narrowest place called Yupsharsky gates. Head over to rapidly rise clouds shrouded the canyon walls, and then you realize why this place is called the "Stone bag".
For nearly ten kilometers is hard to look away from the walls of the canyon, covered with garlands of ivy and beards of moss, in a century-old stocky trees recognise familiar to us only as a shrub boxwood and you reflect on the passage of time.
The canyon itself is located at a height of 400 metres, at the bottom of the gorge rumbles crystal clear stream river Yupshara originating in the lake Ritsa and gave the name to the canyon. Of course, it is interesting to tear up asphalt canyon, writing bends, here now and then there are blondes behind the wheel of a Mercedes, which gives you confidence in your driving skills. But it is better not to succumb to the illusion! The road is difficult and treacherous, visibility is limited, and at speed you can skip the attractions of these places, but not enough.
Near the canyon is gorgeous Gega waterfall, a little further, after Yupsharsky gate, is another waterfall with the intriguing title of "Male tears". Don't miss lying on the side of the road a huge boulder – "the kissing Rock" is the guarantor of eternal love!
