At the academic drama theatre named after A. S. Pushkin in the city of Pskov since 1988, operates the first Russian theatre in the historical monuments in the open air, under the name "Carousel". Artistic Director of the theater became a people's artist of Russia, Honored art worker of Radon V. I., who for a long time works in this genre. The performances in the historic monuments was held with great success at domestic and foreign festivals and was approved by the media. Not only for the creation of the theatre "Carousel", but for all performances relating to the last decade, Radon VI several times nominated for the Russian competition of the State award for 1998 and 2000, and was awarded the honorary title of people's artist of Russia and laureate of the Pskov Administration in the field of theatrical art in 1998.

The beginning of everything was laid thanks to the night views in the city of Pskov in the historical and architectural complex on the banks of the great river. Immediately before the performances were held entertaining performances by folk ensembles, musicians, exhibition and sale of paintings by local artists, products of folk crafts, clothing lottery and auctions – here's how to create a certain kind of environment, which carries the atmosphere of celebration that involved all those who came to the event and the pinnacle of all events were staged.

Stage equipment was very original and consisted of a metal prefabricated structures. Moreover, was equipped with a precast amphitheatre for spectators, which included 1200 seats, which gave an opportunity to the theatre quickly and flexibly to move in different regions and in a short time to work on various outdoor spaces. This has allowed great success of the tour in 1991 in the city of Yaroslavl, and in 1992 in Tallinn, Estonia and Ivangorod. Most importantly, the theatre took part in the festival "Milestones", conducted on an international scale in the city of Kostroma Ipatiev monastery, in the course of several congresses of the all-Russian festival "Voices of history", held during 1994-2001 and also give performances during the period of the annual "Days of Russian culture", operating in the Pskov-caves monastery in the period 1995-2001.

Great features of the famous theatre "Carousel" were noticed in the implementation of the orders of city administrations of Pskov and Ivangorod, Vyborg and Priozersk, as well as in the preparation of various kinds of anniversary celebrations. For example, in 1992, during the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the famous Ivangorod on the basis of the theatre "Carousel" was implemented pageantry to the border of Narva in this place children's events, fair, auction, and a night performance on motives of the play Karasev V. "the Wall", and at the end of the event – fireworks.

During 1992-1993 in Pskov theatre "Carousel" has prepared a large number of various activities that were associated with the 750-year anniversary of the battle of the Ice, as well as 1090 anniversary of the first mention of the city of Pskov in the chronicle sources, with the participation of the Metropolitan of All Russia, Alexy II, and Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin.

In 1994 "Carousel" has become an official member of one of the cultural programs called "goodwill Games held in St. Petersburg in the Peter and Paul fortress with his performance of "Peter". Lighting and pyrotechnic effects, and the use of costumes Petrine era gave the show the magnitude, entertainment and unprecedented reliability.

Theatre "Carousel" has an entry in the book "the Golden annals of the 1100th anniversary of the city of Pskov." The theatre also included in the official program, dedicated to the celebration of the 850th anniversary of the capital.
