The existence of the Museum started in 1986, when the restorers of the Baltic States, and the city of Rezekne gave Pushkin reserve log cabin water mill. Museum Water Mill was opened in 2007 after the renovation, becoming a real working windmill.
Bugrovo – old village, in the past called Tubercles. Since the 17th century, the village belonged to the Church of the Dormition. The monks of this monastery was built by the watermill. The first mill on the river Lugovka mentioned in 1764. The earliest mention of a mill, was found in written sources, says nothing about the date it was built. But the history of the monasteries in Russia proves that the mill was the most important objects in the economic structure and monasteries were built at the same time with religious buildings.
Today the mill is very similar to "Pushkinskaya" – it was reconstructed on many surviving documents. In those years, when Pushkin lived in St. Michael, mill in Bugrovo had a very imposing appearance. Its size was impressive. But not only the size and the original "face" that made the windmill on the background of other rustic buildings. From them, she was extremely "talkative". The roar of rushing on a wooden tray of water, the creak of the spinning waterwheel, millstones and shafts were merged into one "mill" Aria, which drowned all other sounds.
Museum "Mill in the village bugrovo" devoted to "rural" to Pushkin, lead the poet to peasant life, customs, rituals and culture. Pushkin often visited here, noting the special atmosphere of the mill life. Probably, this is the place chosen by the poet as a place of act of his drama "the mermaid", perhaps the place of the duel in the novel "Eugene Onegin."
Some time ago it became completely obsolete – it did not matter, because all the main parts and gears and drive mechanisms were made of wood. The millers house almost collapsed. But by the 200th anniversary of the poet in the Pushkin reserve were carried out considerable restoration and reconstruction work. In addition to the mills have been restored Miller's house and farm. At the estate there is a barn, bath house, a hay barn and a barn with Riga.
Nowadays the village is a functioning water mill, which on weekends launch. Millers not only explain the principle of operation of ancient mechanisms, but also show the internal structure of a water mill. Here too are the ancient scales, weights and balance, as well as other old mill utensils. Miller, though, too, miraculously transferred here from time immemorial, relaxed asleep grain, which before becoming the flour required grinding.
