Arch Of Augustus Photo: Arch Of Augustus

Arch of Augustus – the monument, preserved since the Roman Empire. The arch was erected in 27 BC, after the construction of the road between Rome and the Adriatic coast. The main facade of the arch, which preserved the inscription "Golden gate", turned towards Rome. During the middle ages the arch was used as a city gate in the castle walls, fragments of which have survived to our days.
