The Novocherkassk Museum of the memory of the tragedy of 1962 was opened in the city of Novocherkassk of the Rostov region in the house №6 on the Palace square. A Museum dedicated to the events in Novocherkassk in 1962, opened in 2002. Involved in the opening of the Museum of municipal and regional authorities, the Soros Foundation and a number of NGOs. Materials and documents of the period were collected for the purpose more fully and more authentically to tell about the tragic events of 60-ies. Because until now even the relatives of the victims did not know the whole truth about the events in 1962. The official version – strikes and riots in the factories of the city were provoked by the extremists, led to an armed clash with the troops, and were suppressed. Actually same because of miscalculations of the country's leadership began disruptions in the supply of food, even bread. Sharply increased food prices, increased operating norms of production. As a result, the workers of the city decided on a peaceful strike, blocked the railway with the requirement to improve working conditions and increase wages. The next day the authorities were to the city tanks and troops and started to shoot unarmed civilians with children with machine guns. The number of victims is unknown, but in June 1994 26 coffins with remains of the dead were reburied at the memorial cemetery of the city. Information about the Novocherkassk events was strictly classified. Such it is today - a lot of documents stored in the archives of the KGB and cannot be accessed.

In the Museum you can see the documents reflecting the course of events, photographs and personal belongings of participants of events, repressed, their correspondence with family and friends. Attention is drawn to the bullets and damaged fifty dollars found at the scene of the collision. On the day of the 29th anniversary of the events near the Museum in the Park on the spot death of people was installed and consecrated a white marble monolith, which has strengthened the modest sign with Orthodox cross and the date "1962". At the same time at the Novocherkassk electric locomotive plant officially opened a memorial Board with an inscription explaining the essence of the tragedy.
