The Moravian town of Valtice is famous, above all, the fact that it housed a favorite residence of the Liechtenstein family, which owned this population from 1391 to 1945. This town was founded in the XII century by the bishops of Passau. A small village with the advent of the castle began to rapidly evolve and grow. The Lichtenstein put a lot of effort palaces in Valtice and nearby Lednice and the land around them turned into a Grand complex of European importance. Now he is under the protection of UNESCO and is considered one of the wonders of the Czech Republic.
Before 1920 Valtice belonged to the Austrian Empire, and then joined to Czechoslovakia. The German population after the second world war was forced to leave their homes. Gradually Valtice turned into an ordinary Czech city, which the Communists did closed. Long entry to the territory of Valtice was allowed only to local residents or those who had special permission. The fall of the Iron curtain changed. And now any tourist can admire the elegant castle built on the site of an ancient fortress in the Baroque form. Local Palace originally had a Gothic, then Renaissance style. In Baroque style, it was rebuilt by the architect And. B. F. von Erlach in the XVIII century. Currently, some rooms of the castle are open to the public. Their examination provides a comprehensive insight into the life and culture of the Czech nobility in centuries past. Elegantly furnished hall of mirrors once used to lush receptions, Art gallery with portraits of the owners of the estate were disposed to reflection and unhurried conversations, small Princess salon Carla contributed to flirt and amorous adventures. The castle has a wine gallery. There is also a tasting room.
The Palace was surrounded by a landscape Park, which appeared here on the orders of one of Lichtenstein in 1727. While walking through this Park is worth to see the temple of Diana, an open colonnade, and other interesting buildings.
