This small temple was built for the burial of the dead and consecrated in honor of St. Anne. The temple was founded in 1695-1697. The local cemetery, where a Church was erected, was the result of the construction of the Jesuit College and Church of the Holy Name of Jesus around the Church of St. James the Elder. Near this Church was the graveyard, where he was buried to the wealthy. As for the emergence of a new educational institution was required to vacate the place, the local Council took the decision to organize a new cemetery, which soon appeared outside the historic centre. For the construction of the Church of St. Anne, funded by the Jesuit order and the city Council was invited by the master Antonio Scotti. In 1698 the cemetery and the Church too was surrounded by a wall. Stone portal in the cemetery wall appeared in 1711. The entrance is decorated with a statue of St. Donatus.

In 1935, the cemetery was expanded. It is still used for burials.
