In the heart of Corfu, 12 km from the capital is a small village Vatos. It is located on the hillside of St. George. Huge green valley known as "the Ropa valley" surrounding the village, was once a lake, which was dry. This valley occupies an imposing Central part of the island of Corfu.

Today the valley is crossed by the river Ermones, creating a small picturesque lake. The abundance of lush greenery and availability of water create the perfect habitat for different species of birds, animals and fish. Extensive green meadow is a great place for grazing sheep. In this area is not very developed tourism and numerous clusters of people, so it is perfect for those wanting a quiet retreat. However, the proximity to the capital will allow, if desired, to break away from civilization and visit all the important historical sights and museums of the island. Just 5 km from the village of Vatos is also a great water Park.
