Kimi is a charming town in the Eastern part of the picturesque Greek island of Evia (Euboea). It is located 87 km North-East of Chalkida (the administrative centre of Evia). The port of Kymi - Paralia Kimi is an important transportation hub and one of the largest artificial ports in Greece, providing regular ferry connections with the island of Skyros.

In one version of their name Kimi was in honor of the ancient Greek city of the same name. In some ancient sources Kimi referred to as the harbour of the famous ancient city of Chalcis and Eretria.

Descending in the form of an amphitheatre on the slopes of the beautiful green hill with a height of 200 m above sea level, Kimi offers the stunning beauty of the panoramic views. Not surprisingly, the city is often called the "balcony of the Aegean". Kimi is very beautiful, literally immersed in the green town with winding streets and charming houses in this traditional local architectural style and for its many beautiful neoclassical mansions.

Today Kimi is one of the most luxurious and popular resorts of the island with well-developed tourist infrastructure. Here you will find many good hotels and comfortable apartments, as well as lots of great restaurants and taverns with excellent cuisine and, of course, beautiful beaches.

Among the attractions Kimi is worth noting a small but very interesting Ethnographic Museum, the monastery of Saint Panteleimon and Church of Panagia Laudanski (1849). Definitely worth a visit and located just 5 km from the village convent of the Transfiguration of the 17th century. In the same few kilometers from Kimi is the famous source of Anartica, whose waters are renowned for their healing properties.

Kimi is the birthplace of the prominent Greek doctor Georgios Papanikolaou (1883-1962). His research laid the Foundation for a new direction in Cytology, and he developed a method of diagnosis of cancer of uterine cervix received the honor in his name the method of Papanicolaou or PAP test.
