Nydri Photo: Nidri

Nidri is a small charming town on the Eastern coast of the Greek island of Lefkada. It is located in a wonderfully picturesque setting among olive groves and the pine-covered hills and cypress trees about 20 km South of the homonymous capital of the island.

Today Nidri is one of the best and most popular resorts of Lefkada. Gorgeous beaches, crystal-clear and warm waters of the Ionian sea, and a well-developed tourist infrastructure annually attract huge number of tourists. In the Village there is a good selection of hotels and comfortable apartments, many excellent restaurants and taverns, as well as supermarkets, markets, banks, pharmacies and more. In the summer season are night clubs where you can relax and have fun until the morning. Along the promenade you will find lots of nice bars, cafes and various shops. Active guests can engage in Nydri a variety of water sports, Cycling, or wander through the beautiful surrounding area.

Nydri has a small private port, is home to numerous fishing boats, sailboats and luxury white yachts. Here you can rent a motor boat or a boat and visit the Islands-satellites of Lefkada, as well as picturesque secluded coves and the famous beaches of the island. There is also regular ferry service to the Islands of Meganisi, Ithaca and Kefalonia. The port of Nydri is the sailing centre of Lefkada town and the place where every year in September starts the famous Ionian regatta.

Among the main attractions of Nydri you can allocate a small folklore Museum in the city centre and the stunning beauty of waterfalls Dimosari (about 4 km from Nidri). Definitely worth a visit and the charming little Church of St. Kyriaki. Lovers of archaeology will be interesting ruins of a prehistoric settlement.

Directly opposite Nydri is a small private island of Skorpios, owned until recently the family of a famous Greek billionaire Aristotle Onassis.
