Island Capul included in the province of Northern Samar, part of the eponymous Philippine Islands. You can get here by boat from the town of Allen – the road will take about an hour. Kabul is located in the middle of the San Bernardino Strait at the Western tip of the island of Samar. The island is only about 14 km, width 5 km When it was called the Abacus on behalf of the leader of one of the local clans, who arrived here from the island of Java. And the current name of the island comes from the word Acapulco during the Spanish colonization here often stopped trading Galleons coming from this Mexican port. Today, residents Capula engaged in the cultivation of coconuts and fishing, this is a very poor island, but is proud of its history and nature. Interesting fact – the inhabitants of Capula speak a language that is not used anywhere else in the country, even on the island of Samar.
Kabul is a real jewel of the province, is not yet well known to the world. The island is not like other parts of the Philippines: life goes nice and slow, island-no car, no major shopping malls and no nightlife. However, if you want to unwind and relax, basking in the sun on the amazing beaches, snorkeling to enjoy the beautiful corals, and to see the exotic flora and fauna – Kapul the perfect choice. On the island there are caves, abandoned Japanese bunker during the Second World war, the historic lighthouse and one of the oldest churches in the region of Western Visayas. The Church Capula, dedicated to Saint Ignatius of Loyola, surrounded by a square Fort with bastions, which was intended to protect the temple from the attacks of the Moro pirates. It is believed that it was built in the 16th century by Jesuit monks, but the exact date of construction is unknown. In the North-Eastern part of the fortress can still be seen old iron cannon, and next to the Church is a small chapel, perhaps with a crypt.
An interesting attraction of the island is the lighthouse, the construction of which began in 1896 when the Spaniards and ended with the Americans. The lighthouse is 43, 5 meters. It stands on a hill with a wonderful view of the Strait of San Bernardino.
