The Church of St. John the Baptist in port and resort town of Feodosia is one of the oldest churches in the territory of the Crimea Peninsula. Year start the construction of the Church believe in 1348, since this date was found on the stone in the course of restoration works. Although some scientists argue that the temple was built even earlier.

The Church of St. John the Baptist – it's a square building, surmounted by a dome and an octagonal drum with loopholes. The main hall was previously decorated with stone statues of St. Nicholas and John the Baptist and was painted with original frescoes. To this day preserved only fragments of frescoes, and statues of saints disappeared.

With the advent of Caffa (now Feodosiya) the Turks in 1475, the Church of John the Baptist was renamed to Quarantine the Church, after which the temple was abandoned. Only in 1875 the Church was re-consecrated and named in memory of the Iveron icon of the Mother of God.

It is known that in 1906, this Church was held a wedding ceremony K. F. Bogaevsky and J. durante. K. Bogaevsky - known Russian artist-"the Cimmerian", born Theodosia, who lived in Quarantine. The Church of the Iberian icon of the Mother of God was his beloved Church.

In severe revolutionary years near the abode was shot about 7 thousand white officers and soldiers. In may 2005 there was established a memorial cross to the Victims of the Bolshevik terror in 1918-1920.

In Soviet times a temple was closed, frescoes and sculptures were mutilated. The Church is more than 7 years stood in disrepair. Full restoration of the Church of St. John the Baptist was completed by 1996 and was chaired by the sculptor and architect V. Semenovskogo. Also restored the dome with a cross. The Church was again consecrated in memory of the Iveron icon of the Mother of God and returned to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. Conciliar Liturgy was held by the Bishop of Simferopol and Crimean diocese of the Archbishop Lazarus.
