Lihoslavl Museum, or Karelian national Museum of local lore is one of the Tver branch of the United state Museum. Its opening took place in the summer of June 20, 1995. There is a Museum in the Central part of the city of Likhoslavl', while near it is situated the famous temple of the assumption.

Local history Museum is located on the first floor of a former merchant's house built in two floors in the second half of the 19th century. Earlier this house was located quite a long time and acted in a district of the Karelian Museum of local lore, the base of which occurred in late 1930. Surprisingly interesting and mysterious story of the development and establishment of the native land are represented through the numerous archaeological finds that were discovered during the excavations and explorations conducted at the site Lihoslavl area.

The Museum has two spacious halls display all available exhibits. The first room is called "the Cultural life of Lihoslavl the edge of the late 19th – early 20th century". All presented items are selected according to thematic sections, which include: herding and farming, weaving and flax, peasant life, culture and education, accordion workshop, local field work, the Nikolaev railway and lihoslavl district during the great Patriotic war.

It is important to note that the vast majority of collections dedicated to the economic component, cultural and everyday life of upper Volga Karel, extensively spread on the whole territory of the Tver land over time from the 17th century and even after the time of Troubles. In the first room you can see the subjects of economy and life of the Tver Karelians and the necessary tools. Particularly noteworthy are the products made within the country crafts of the local population. Most visitors showing great interest in the domestic interior of a traditional Karelian houses, which has some intricate differences from the decor to the classic Russian izba.

Funds Lihoslavl Karelian Museum contain more than six thousand units of storage, including two notable and especially valuable collection of national clothes and towels.

The second room of the Museum is a bit different, because it is exclusively exhibition. Here is an opportunity to see the temporary exhibitions, funds received from other local history museums or oblast Tver Museum.

Lihoslavl the local history Museum organizes constantly fascinating lectures directly related to the use of exhibition materials. Have a place to be and entertaining tours designed for students of educational institutions, in the course of which involved ancient objects of peasant life. For children of primary school years developed and used specialized theatre tour entitled "visiting fairy tales". Attention students of middle school age are invited to a gaming and also performed in theatrical form tour "Gatherings at grandma's Dooney", which introduces young visitors with objects and things of the peasant household life.

In the upper frieze of the exposition shown unique design finding - works of famous Russian artists of the late 19th – first half of the 20th century. The photographs depicted the peasants, performing field work.

It is important to note that the exposition of the Museum of the city of Likhoslavl ' is among the only among all of these cultural institutions in the upper Volga region in which the greatest emphasis is placed on all available demonstrations of traditional cultural life and Karelian life.
