The house of merchants ziminikh is located opposite the Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist and resurrection monastery. The estate of merchants ziminikh is a large classic ensemble.
Simini were one of the richest merchants of Uglich. The story sort of goes with the 17th century their property was leather, linen factories, they conducted trade with foreign countries, supplied to the Russian army. Leather workshops and linen factories and ziminikh was on ANOVA field - the area of present Krasnoarmeyskaya Boulevard Zina Zolotova. It is known that Simini traded with foreign merchants and has been supplying the Russian army. Therefore, it is not by accident that their house is pretty big for Uglich. It was built in 1804-06, after the approval of the regular city plans.
House ziminikh was located on the red line of the former Pyatnitskaya square (the name of the area from the name of the Church after the Church of St. Paraskeva-Friday standing nearby). Until the late 19th century Zimin yard (the so-called manor ziminikh) remained the largest building in Uglich.
The building is a two storey house with eleven Windows on the main facade. Rises above the Central part of the mezzanine. The facade of the building is quite impressive – the portico of two layers of double side columns and a single medium. Currently the columns of the lower tier, carrying a massive balcony with balusters lost. The facade of the mezzanine – free, he opens his broad forehead". The corners of the building is rusticated, the Windows are quite high. With the rear facade of the house has a small yard. The left and right side of the house is symmetrically constructed two one-storey wings with triangular pediments. Between the wings and the house was a gate with columns.
Most likely, on the lower floor of the main building that housed the office and storage space. The wings also function as ancillary farm buildings. On the second floor of the main building was located spacious rooms.
This large manor house is an example of the present "merchant of the Palace". That is why during the visits of high-ranking and rulers in a town house ziminikh took them. For example, on 9 may 1841 in the estate had dinner and spent the night Nicholas I. In the house on Pyatnitskaya the square there were other members of the Royal family. In 1837 there was Grand Duke Alexander, the future Emperor Alexander II, abolished at the time serfdom. I ziminikh in 1850 was visiting the Grand Dukes Nicholas and Michael Nikolaevicha.
In 1876 Simini moved to St. Petersburg, and his estate sold to the city Treasury. This building housed the district school. In 1897 the power of Uglich gave North wing Uglich volunteer fire company. In Soviet times, in the former home ziminikh located base school Uglich normal school. In 2000, it ceased to exist.
Since that time, merchant's estate was gradually deteriorate, sometimes there are shooting historical films. House ziminikh can be seen in the film "Morphine" by Alexei Balabanov According to the actor's house ziminikh plays the role of a district hospital (still sign with the word "Hospital" is hanging in the left wing of the building). In 2010, the building was used by Director Nikolai Viktorov for the film "Mologa - Russian Atlantis".
Periodically there are different ideas about how to preserve this historical and architectural monument, including on transfer of the building to the Museum. In this building you could open exhibition hall and place it in historical exhibition. Indeed, because of the shortage of exhibition space many valuable exhibits of the Museum related to the history of Uglich are in the vaults. But it also requires considerable funds for the restoration of this monument.
