Izvorski the monastery of the Dormition of the virgin Mary – Orthodox women's monastery, located 2 km from the village of izvor and 9 km from the town Dimovo.

About the long history Izvorski the monastery has survived almost no information. There is a legend according to which the monastery was founded in the XII century by Prince Izvor Taborski. After the fall of the Vidin Kingdom it was looted and destroyed by the Turks, almost all the monks were killed and the few survivors have fled the area and the monastery fell into disrepair.

The legend says that in the middle of the XVII century from the monastery is in ruins. The initiator of the revival of the Holy monastery was the monk Sylvester. Historians have been able to establish that the rebuilt monastery was first called "the Dry police" ("Dry stream"), but later he returned to the former name – Izvorski.

In 1864, in the Church of the monastery was made and the iconostasis is the work of the monks Cyril, Gabriel and Chrysanthus. Earlier inside the wall and the dome of the temple was decorated with colourful frescoes, but because of reconstruction work, they have not been preserved.

In 1923, at the expense of donations of the parishioners of the monastery restoration works were carried out. An icon-painter G. Jelesarov updated the mural in the Church and has written for the new temple of the icon.
