Zhytomyr Museum of nature in Holy cross Church is one of the divisions of the Zhytomyr regional Museum. The Museum is located in Holy cross Church, which is located in the oldest part of the city on Castle hill, Cathedral street, 14.
The Church of the cross in the Byzantine style was built in the XIX century. In 30-ies it was closed by the Soviet authorities, and in 1987 the building was given to the Museum of nature.

Zhytomyr Museum - special. In addition to local natural material it holds great geological collection, which was created in the nineteenth century Volyn Governor M. Chertkov. The Museum presents more than 12 thousand exhibits, most of which are ready to tell the story about flora and fauna of the woodland, its climate, and local rivers and mineral resources.

The nature Museum is famous for its huge collection of stuffed animals and birds, which is the largest in Ukraine. In addition, in Zhytomyr Museum collection of minerals and precious and semi-precious stones. In six large halls of the Museum housed over a thousand exhibits, transmitting all the picturesqueness and beauty of Zhytomyr region. Here you can learn about flora and fauna of this region, its nature and water resources. The Museum also contains exhibits from other museums and private collections. The most popular among them are exposure "Anomalies of the human body" and "Butterflies of the world".

At the moment there are disputes about the return of the Orthodox faithful of Holy cross Church.
