The Church of the virgin Mary of częstochowa is one of the most ancient temples in Zielona góra. It was previously called the Church the Garden of Christ and a long time belonged to the Protestants. The first Foundation stone of this Church was laid in September 1745. Funds for the construction of the Church was allocated by the city mayor V. B. Kaufmann. Construction continued until the end of 1748.
Half-timbered Church of the virgin Mary was built on the model of Greek temples and had the shape of a cross. Its facades were decorated in the Baroque style. The priests of the new Church imposed a very correct tradition that has existed for several centuries. Still before every Holy mass the faithful shows an image of our lady of częstochowa, in the sanctuary of Jasna Gora.
Church of the virgin Mary was built without a tower, but it was envisaged in the original project. What prevented the organizers to build the Church next to the Church tower, now it is impossible to tell. The brick bell tower was added a century later in 1828. In 1929 the tower was adorned with created in Berlin clock that still work.
After the Second world war, the once-Evangelical Church became Catholic, which remains to this day.
In the interior of the Church retains many vintage items that are now historic and artistic interest. These include the main altar, made in 1749 in the Regency style, stone basin, made in 1755 and is decorated in Rococo style, carved wooden partition between the choir and nave and organ of the early XX century.
