Museum of the history of fisheries is located in the village of Glasshouses and was founded in 1998. The exhibition is housed in the former mansion of industrialist Peter Kozhevnikov, which is one of the first fisheries in these parts.
Village Conservatories is located at the mouth of the Volga river and from two sides by rivers. Due to the large number of reed beds this region has long been empty. The first mention of the village dates back to 1740. Then on its territory there were only 40 people who were engaged in fishing and the production of fish oil. Hence the first name of the village Girona.
At the beginning of the eighteenth century Pyotr Kozhevnikov bought these lands and established fisheries. It is noteworthy that the sons Kozhevnikova not only continued his father's work, but also largely contributed to the development of the village. For example, one of them was an avid gardener and even in such a hot country as Astrakhan, was able to create a unique public garden, the plants which were brought even from Jamaica.
In 1918 the factory was nationalized, but it continued to conduct successful operations up Yes our time. Today it is a "Greenhouse fish factory". The opening of the Museum in 1986 contributed to N. N. Potapov, who has served many years the head of the company. The exhibit consists of archival documents, photographs, household items and other artifacts that tell about the development of Greenhouse fishing plant from the beginning to the present day. The exhibition takes up four halls. At the moment the Museum is a branch of the Astrakhan state historical-architectural Museum-reserve.
