Astrakhan state art gallery named after. P. Dogadin is the first art Museum of the city of Astrakhan, founded by the giver picturesque collection of P. M. Dogadin in 1918. Since 1921, the gallery is situated in the monument of the late XIX - early XX century the Estate Plotnikov and is a three-story brick building with two-story wings in the yard. The gallery collection is more than 10, 5 thousand units of storage.

This is one of the richest and most interesting art museums in the Volga region, representing the work of almost all the major Russian artists, ranging from painters and portraitists of the eighteenth century and ending with contemporary Soviet art. In the Department of Russian art of XVIII–XIX centuries are works by F. S. Rokotov, D. Levitsky, V. Borovikovsky, K. P. Bryullov, A. G. Venetsianov, S. F. Shchedrin, I. K. Aivazovsky, A. P. Bogolyubov, V. A. Tropinin, V. G. Perov, N. In. Nevrev, L. I. Solomatkin, A. K. Savrasov, I. Shishkin, K. E. Makovsky, V. V. Vereshchagin, A. I. Kuindzhi, V. D. Polenov.

Painting of the late XIX – early XX century is represented by works of I. E. Repin, I. I. Levitan, V. Serov, M. V. Nesterov, Konstantin Somov, V. E. Borisov-Musatov, N. To. Roerich, P. P. Konchalovsky.

Constantly renewed collections of the gallery of works of artists-Astrakhantsev, artists from Central Asia and the Caucasus. A special place in the Museum occupy the works of Boris Mikhailovich Kustodiev was born in Astrakhan. This 22 paintings and more than 100 graphic works.
