The Museum of fine arts is located in the castle of Blois and there coexists with another archaeology. In the Museum you can see works of decorative-applied art, a collection of portraiture and sculpture – in particular, a portrait of the poet Pierre de Ronsard and busts of monarchs. In addition to exploring the Museum's exhibits, is to become better acquainted with the castle itself.

Chateau du Blois is situated on the high Bank of the Loire river, almost in the center of the city. He is one of the most popular attractions in Blois and included in the list of world heritage sites by UNESCO. The first mention of this castle were discovered in the documents dated to the IX century. The history of this building is associated with the first persons of the French middle Ages – its walls saw Catherine de Medici, Louis XII and Francis I.

From the mid-tenth century to the XV century, the castle and the town belonged to the names of Blois, and then were purchased by Louis of Orleans. At the end of the XV century his grandson, born in the castle of Blois, became king of France and moved the capital to his small home. This period becomes a time of prosperity for the whole of Blois, the castle was transformed from an obscure fortress into a luxurious Royal residence of Louis XII. In this period we have built a new building of the castle, decorated with large Windows, balconies and galleries, a chapel, and at the entrance to the castle has installed a sculpture of the king.

In the early sixteenth century in the next reign the Francis I near the castle was built well known from the works of Dumas Chateau d'if, which has become perhaps the most terrible prison in Europe. For himself Francis I built another wing in the Renaissance style. After the death of his wife and defeat at the battle of Pavia in 1524-1525, the king left the castle, and from that moment he began gradually to decline. The period of desolation was continued almost to the end of the eighteenth century. Louis XVI decided to sell it, and in the absence of buyers is to destroy. Castle didn't sell, but not demolished, but was turned into a barracks.

To date, the castle, with some losses survived the French revolution, was restored. In the castle, besides the study of architectural features, we can estimate a luxury environment in which they lived kings presents tapestries and furniture made of expensive wood, paintings and household items. In addition to its museums, are located in the castle town library and two concert halls.
