Archaeological Museum "Berestye" opened on 2 March 1982 and is a branch of the Brest regional Museum. This unique Museum, which has no analogues. Visitors can go directly in the excavation which has a roof and walls that protect from the weather. Excavations Berestye was conducted in 1962 by archaeologists under the leadership of F. P. Lysenko. Now for the review is a section of the citadel of an ancient Slavic settlement of the XI-XIII centuries. The total area of the Museum is 2400 square meters and is divided into 14 rooms. The main exhibition – the excavation at a depth of 4 meters and has an area of 1000 square meters. Berestye – one of the most ancient Belarusian towns. His mention contain the Chronicles 1019. The city occupies about 4 hectares, the population reached 1, 5-2 thousand people.

Interestingly, all detected of the house were completely wooden. Some houses have survived to 12 crowns. On the territory of the city was discovered the Church and the Christian and pagan religious objects. The city was surrounded by wooden walls on the earthworks and surrounded by moats.
